Intro

Imagine stepping out of the plane in Barcelona, leaving your daily rush behind, and driving along the Costa Brava towards a historic villa overlooking the sea. For five days, you press pause on autopilot and place yourself at the center of your own life in a small group of just eight participants. This Spring Retreat at Villa St. Joseph in Calonge is designed to restore your energy, sharpen your direction, and help you reconnect with what really matters.

In this article, you get a complete overview of the program, the themes per day, and how body, mind, food, and nature come together into one coherent experience.

Section 1 - What is the Spring Retreat at Villa St. Joseph?

The Spring Retreat is a 5-day intensive program in April 2026 at Villa St. Joseph in Calonge, Spain. The group size is deliberately small - only eight participants - to guarantee personal attention, safety and depth. The team consists of a host (Michel), a chef who is also masseur and personal trainer (Gustavo), and a professional facilitator (Esther).

During the retreat, you work around four core themes: arriving and connecting, body and vitality, direction and patterns, and integration and future. Each day combines movement, reflection, group work, time in nature, and shared meals that support your energy instead of draining it.

Section 2 - Day 1: Arriving and Connecting

Day 1 starts with the journey from Schiphol to Barcelona and the drive of about one hour to Villa St. Joseph in Calonge. On arrival you are welcomed with coffee, tea and a light snack while you literally "land" with a guided landing exercise. You check in with yourself: how do I arrive here, how does my body feel, what is going on in my head?

After a tour of the villa and grounds, there is free time to swim or read before the evening program. During dinner you get to know the group in a playful way with the exercise "The 3 layers of me": how do I think I come across, what do few people know about me, and what in me wants to grow. The evening ends with an intention circle in which everyone shares why they are here, what may arise these days, and where they sometimes get stuck in daily life.

Section 3 - Day 2: Body and Vitality

Day 2 is dedicated to body and vitality and starts early with the sunrise on the beach and a refreshing spring dive in the sea. You experience the cold sea in a safe, guided way with conscious breathing, feeling your limits and then warming up from the inside. This is followed by reflection: what happens when I meet tension and how do I deal with the voices in my mind at such a moment.

After a warm breakfast on the beach there is a movement session led by Gustavo with mobility, core training and light intervals. At lunch, a light healthy vegetarian meal at the villa, the theme is energy management: where does my energy leak, what really nourishes me, and how do I recognize signals from my body. In the evening there is a body scan and sharing circle: what have I felt, what have I seen today, how do I experience tension, and what do I sometimes ignore or deny in myself.

Section 4 - Day 3: Direction and Patterns

Day 3 is about direction and patterns: are you at the helm of your life, and do you have enough energy and a clear horizon. After an optional morning movement session (strength, balance and grounding), you go on a silence walk from Sant Feliu to Playa dAro, about four hours with the first 1.5 hours in silence. During the walk you get reflection assignments: what do I still want in my life, what does my life ask of me now, and how concrete do I see that in front of me.

At lunch in a beach restaurant in Playa dAro, you dive deeper into patterns, choices and goals. You look at which patterns you recognize, which beliefs keep them in place, and which beliefs no longer serve you. In the evening there is a BBQ with a fire ritual where you literally write down what no longer serves you, speak it out, and give it to the fire, followed by a champagne moment to toast the reborn, chosen version of yourself.

Section 5 - Day 4: Integration and Future

Day 4 focuses on integration and future: anchoring and formulating a concrete plan. The morning movement session focuses on flow, stretching and breathing, after which there is a joint breakfast where everyone helps themselves and cleans up. Then follows an exercise in which you name qualities you see in each other, record a voice note on your own phone, and receive a card with words from others as a tangible mirror.

Late in the morning you drive together towards Begur along bays and beaches, with time for a beach walk and feet in the sand. During lunch on the coast the theme is anchoring: what do I concretely take with me, what do I apply immediately, and what will I do or leave for 30 days. You write a letter to yourself that will be posted and lands in your mailbox 30 days later as a reminder of your choices. In the evening there is a farewell dinner and a creative expression evening where everyone steps outside their comfort zone with singing, dancing, play, music or another performance, ending with a closing disco.

Section 6 - Day 5: Rounding Off and Departure

On the last day you work with a 30-day commitment card to make your intentions concrete. In the closing circle you look back, mirror each other as a group and say goodbye to hosts Michel and Gustavo. Around 11:00 you leave Villa St. Joseph for Barcelona, return the cars and fly back to Schiphol, where the group says goodbye with both laughter and tears after a connected weekend.

Section 7 - Who this Retreat is for

This retreat is ideal for people who feel that their energy is leaking and want to recharge body and mind in a structured but warm setting. It is also suitable for professionals who want to look at their patterns, choices and direction in life with guidance and a small, safe group. Thanks to the combination of movement, reflection, nature, good food and personal guidance, this program attracts people who want more than a simple wellness weekend - they want lasting change.

Section 8 - The Role of Food, Sports and Recovery

The program consciously integrates sports, food and recovery so that your body supports your inner process instead of working against it. With a chef-personal trainer like Gustavo, meals are light, healthy and tailored to the activities, and movement varies from mobility and core to strength and flow. Recovery elements such as stretching, possible massages and quiet reflection moments ensure that you do not overload yourself but build sustainable energy.

Section 9 - Why a Small Group of 8 Works

With only eight participants there is space for real contact, depth in conversations and attention to your personal story. The facilitator can better monitor group dynamics, and the host and chef can respond more easily to individual needs. For many participants, this intimacy makes the difference between a nice trip and a genuinely transformative experience.

Communication

If you recognize that you need a reset - physically, mentally or emotionally - then this Spring Retreat at Villa St. Joseph offers a structured but warm framework to take that step. Contact the team to inquire about availability, pricing and upcoming dates, or to talk whether this program fits your current situation. If it does not fit its better not to come. We care about our reputation and want the client a lifetime experience.
